Pediatric CPR (EMSA Approved – Title 22)
The American Heart Association Pediatric CPR course is approved by Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) for child care in Contra Costa County. This course is CPR only and is for renewal or first time students. If you need both CPR and First-aid, please register for that class.

Course Content
Students learn chokesaving for all age groups, CPR for adults, children, and infants and how to use a pocket mask. This course is CPR only. If you need to take both Pediatric CPR and First-aid, please register for that class. You can also take CPR on one day and then Pediatric First-aid on another day.
Who should take this class
People who own a family day care in the East Bay child care center employees who need EMSA certification.
Certification
After successful completion, students will receive the official American Heart Association Pediatric CPR certification card, which is valid for two years and the CPR manual.
Warning
There are a few companies in the Bay Area who claim their courses are EMSA approved, but they not approved. In order to receive valid certification, you must either take the 4 hour EMSA CPR course and receive a sticker, or take the 4 hour Pediatric CPR class by the American Heart Association. Safety Training Seminars is listed on the EMSA’s website of approved vendors for this class. Also online CPR classes are not accepted by EMSA.
Class Time
According to State Law, the Pediatric CPR class must be 4 hours long. If you find a class that is less than 4 hours, it will not be accepted by licensing and you would be forced to take the class again and pay for the class again. It does not matter if you are renewing or if it is your first time taking CPR.
Trust
Safety Training Seminars is a member of the Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. The American Heart Association license number is CA-20784. The EMSA license number is DC-0204. Our training center can be found as an approved vendor on the EMSA’s website and you can view our license under childcare on our website. Safety Training Seminars has been providing these EMSA certified classes since 1993. Also, students do not need to pay for the training until the day of the class.
Payment
Payment can be made on the day of the course by cash or a check made out to STS. Credit and debit cards are not accepted.
Parking/Location
There is a large parking lot in the Oak Grove Shopping Center. We are located near Wells Fargo Bank, and next to Ozora Sushi on the 2nd floor above the Nail Salon. Also in this shopping center is a Peets Coffee, Pet Food Express, Trader Joes, and Chevron.
Classroom
Wear comfortable clothes since you will be practicing on the floor. If you have back, knee, or other problems, please let your instructor know so that you can practice on a table. In the Bay Area, we have lots of people who have English as a second or third language. Our instructor are very nice and friendly and we will help you out. Our instructors speak a few languages like Spanish, French, Danish, and Swedish. Children are not allowed in the classroom. Please arrive to class 10 minutes before course start time. Remove lipstick and lip gloss before practicing on the manikins. We do not have any formal lunch breaks but there will be breaks throughout the class.
Cancellation Policy
We have a very relaxed cancellation policy. You only pay for the class if you arrive. If you do not show up, you do not pay. However, if you want to cancel for any reason, please email us back so we can give your spot to someone else. Thanks.
Class Cancellation Policy
We do not cancel our classes – even if only one person is registered. I know some other CPR companies cancel their courses the day before the training, if there is low attendance. But we do not cancel our courses.

We have will granola bars, tea, coffee, and soda in the classroom.
