We send out access to the online courses three times daily between 8 AM and 5 PM. To take the American Heart Association online course, you’ll need a computer or tablet—mobile phones aren’t compatible.
The course adjusts to your current knowledge level, so its length varies based on your experience and skills. Here’s a quick guide to estimated times:
BLS: 1-2 hours
ACLS or PALS: 3-4 hours
You’re in control of your pacing—you can start and stop the course as needed. There’s no requirement to complete it in one sitting, so you can fit it around your schedule.
Are you preparing for your ACLS or PALS course? Arrive at your testing location on the scheduled registration date and time with your RQI login details and the instructions sent to you via text or email. Once there, put on a pair of gloves and log in to the computer using either the keyboard or touch screen. Follow the on-screen directions to activate your skills session.
The VAM (Voice-Assisted Manikin) will guide you step-by-step through the skills testing process. While no instructor will be physically present, our helpful team is just a phone call away if you have questions or need assistance during your session.
Planning to take the BLS or CPR/First-Aid course? Here’s exactly what to expect.
On the day and time you selected during registration, arrive at your testing location with your phone. Your instructor will reach out via text or through the room’s cameras to begin your skills test.
A virtual instructor certified by the American Heart Association will guide you step-by-step through the skills evaluation. Best of all, you’ll receive your certification card immediately after completing the course.
Pick up your free keychain CPR training mask on the day of the course. These masks come in a variety of colors for you to choose from.
A CPR mask is essential when performing CPR. It helps you follow universal precautions and ensures safety during practice.

Chest compressions require significant physical effort. By signing up for a class, you acknowledge that performing compressions on a manikin may cause discomfort or strain to your hands, wrists, arms, or body. If you have any existing physical limitations—such as pain, carpal tunnel, weakness, or an injury—we recommend waiting until you feel better before participating.
If you find yourself getting too tired or run out of time to complete your skills, no problem. Just call our office, and we’ll reschedule you at no extra charge. If you’d prefer, you’re also welcome to stay in the room and finish up when you’re ready.
Reschedule/Cancellation Policy
