Self Guided Learning in Concord - CPR BLS, ACLS, and PALS Courses

If you work at John Muir Medical Center on East Street, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, or any clinic near Todos Santos Plaza, staying current on your American Heart Association® training matters. The problem? Scheduling a full classroom session around long shifts is hard. Safety Training Seminars at 4180 Treat Blvd, Suite A2 in Concord solves that with Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS—flexible training that fits your schedule, not the other way around.

Self-Guided Learning in Concord

What Is a Self-Guided Learning™ Course?

Self-Guided Learning™ courses combine two components: self-paced online cognitive learning and a hands-on self-guided skills session completed at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center. You complete both independently. No fixed class times. No group sessions. No instructor-led components.

Here’s the learner journey in three steps:

  1. Complete the online cognitive learning at your own pace on any compatible device—desktop, laptop, or tablet
  2. Schedule your self-guided skills session at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center at Safety Training Seminars Concord
  3. Receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard upon successful completion

The specific course for BLS, ACLS, and PALS through this format is called HeartCode® Complete.*

HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.

How the Online Learning Works

The online portion uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously evaluates your knowledge and confidence level, then adjusts the content path in real time. If you already know a topic well, the system moves you through it quickly. If you have gaps, it spends more time there.

This means an experienced RN renewing ACLS won’t sit through content they already know cold. A newer provider gets the targeted feedback and remediation they need. Everyone follows a personalized learning pathway.

The online learning activity includes:

  • Interactive patient care scenarios
  • Scenario and algorithm-based content
  • Realistic clinical decision-making exercises
  • Immediate, targeted feedback

You can pause, resume, and review anytime. Most BLS students finish the online portion in one to two hours. ACLS and PALS typically take two to three hours.

What Happens at the CPR Verification Station™ Learning Center

After completing the online learning activity, you head to the Safety Training Seminars Concord location. Skills are completed independently at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center—no instructor required.

During the self-guided skills session, the station provides:

  • Real-time, audiovisual performance feedback
  • Objective measurement of CPR skills against AHA guidelines
  • Objective skills assessment using simulation technology

The system measures compression depth, rate, recoil, ventilation volume, and timing. You receive immediate feedback so you can adjust your technique on the spot. If you need to repeat a skill, you can practice as many times as needed to achieve a passing score.

Skills sessions run approximately 30 minutes for BLS, ACLS, and PALS. The Concord Treat location is open Monday through Sunday, 8 AM to 10 PM, making it easy to stop in before or after a shift at nearby hospitals like John Muir Medical Center or after grabbing lunch near The Veranda shopping center on Willow Pass Road.

Who Should Use Self-Guided Learning™ Courses?

Self-Guided Learning™ courses work especially well for:

  • Nurses, physicians, and allied healthcare providers who need flexible scheduling around shift work
  • EMTs and paramedics serving Contra Costa County who need quick, reliable course completion
  • Medical and dental students at facilities near Concord who prefer self-paced, independent learning
  • Initial or renewal learners who need an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for employment or clinical rotations

If you work anywhere in the East Bay—from Pleasant Hill to Walnut Creek—the Concord Treat location sits conveniently off Treat Blvd in the Treat Square complex, accessible from both Treat Blvd and Cowell Rd.

Course Completion eCards: What You Receive

Upon successful completion of both the online learning activity and the self-guided skills session, you receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard. These eCards are:

  • Issued by the American Heart Association®
  • Accepted nationwide by hospitals, clinics, and employers
  • Valid for two years
  • Available the same day you complete your skills session

Safety Training Seminars also offers a Low Price Guarantee on all AHA courses and backs its service with customer support available seven days a week.
